Dec. 12, 2009: The EVFC held its Annual Awards Dinner on December 12, 2009. Honorary Member and Past Tompkins County Fire Coordinator Jack Miller installed the EVFC Officers for 2010. Life Membership Plaques were presented to Rich Neno and Keven Morse for 20 years of service. Jim Whittaker received the Fire Chief's Achievement of Excellence Award and Deputy Chief Art Howser was reconnized as the top responder of the year.

Nov.1, 2009: The EVFC has placed a order for a new Pierce Arrow XT pumper. Pierce Fire Apparatus is located in Appleton, Wisconsin. The new pumper will be replacing a 1990 Ford/FMC pumper. The 20 year old pumper was purchased in 1989 as a low budget line apparatus and has served the EVFC very well for it's age.

Oct. 5, 2009: We would like to thank those that turned out for our Open House this past Saturday. Even with some cool but sunny weather the turn out was very poor. The Fire Company will be evaluating whether to continue with the event in 2010. There is some considerally amount of time and money associated with the open house and this will be weighed against the actual community participation.

Sept. 26, 2009: The fire siren has been repaired and is back in service. The siren automatically tests itself every day at 12 o'clock noon. The siren is activated for all calls with the exception of emergency medical calls. Per the County 911 Center policy every time the fire tones are used the siren is activated. This means just because you hear the siren blow several time does not mean that no one has responded. It may be for additional manpower or it could be another call for a separate incident. Each siren cycle is approx. 1 and a half minutes.

Sept. 16, 2009: The Fire Company and Town Board have signed a 5 year contract to begin in 2010. The contract remained basically the same with level spending in 2010 of $280,000.00 and a 2% increase for each following year.

Sept. 16, 2009: We will be holding our annual open house Saturday October 3rd from 10 am until 2 pm.

June 23, 2009: We have been asked about what has happened with the fire siren. The siren has been out of service for a couple of months. We just recently with the assistance of Rich Neno and the crane truck from Johney's Wholesale were able to get it down off the pole. It appears to have some motor problems and has been sent out for repairs. I'm sure you will know when it's back in service.

June 6, 2009: The members of the Enfield Volunteer Fire Company faced some tough competition at this years Firemens Parade in Montour Falls, but were still able to pull out a 1st place best appearing color guard, 1st place longest distance and 3rd place best appearing fire dept.

Jan. 20, 2009: The voters have petitioned the Town Board to a voter referendum on the recent resolution to form a fire district in Enfield. The referendum will take place in March (date yet to be determined). We suggest that the voter do their research on the difference between fire district and fire protection district and vote on what they think is best.
